About this ride

This ride is 48KM long containing a total elevation 5000ft. It is a full days ride with high altitude and 3 challenging climbs

Climb 1

The first climb is the most challenging climb with some steep sections which do require walking and bike lifting. E-Bikes will be fine as it's only small sections that will require pushing the E-Bike or cycling if your brave.

After the first climb will be a lunch stop

* Lunch Break

Lunch break will be after the first climb and this ride does include a meal deal of your choice.

How does this work?

Step 1- Once you've booked this ride we will contact you by message/email a few days before on meal deal options including vegan, gluten free e.g.

Step 2- The guide we get your chosen meal deal the day before the ride and bring it in the vehicle on the day in a contained fridge.

Step 3- The guide will park there vehicle at the lunch stop which is after the first descent and leave all lunch in a contained fridge. The guide will then meet you at the start point.

Why do we do this?

This ride is so remote with no facilities or shops so the guide will provide a stop with selected meal deal and drinks, snacks e.g.

Please put down any allergies when filling out the booking form.

Second climb

The second climb is a zig zag fire road which is not as steep as the first climb.

It will continue on a more loam grass, forest route with a descent ending up near Llandbedr.

Third Climb

This final climb will be aside Waun Fach with a cyclable elevation and will be followed with a rest at the top as the scenery is beautiful and then last descent back into Talgarth.

What equipment and bike do you need?

A bike classed as a Mountain Bike is required with at least front suspension. Also a bike with a good gear ratio for the steep hill climbs.

MUST HAVE A HELMET! No helmet no ride. Also would highly recommend gloves, glasses, knee pads and any other form of protection being a bonus.

Bike specific equipment is something I would recommend like inner tube, brakes pads, mech hanger specific for your bike e.g.

Food and water is essential! This is a full days ride in a remote area and will require enough water and some food in the back pack for extra energy.

 â€‹

Hot and cold temperatures happen on this route and you will need clothing to cover all weather conditions.it is Wales so rain can occur so please pack a waterproof jacket as weather is unpredictable. â€‹

Suitable for E-Bikes?

Yes but some bits at the start will require bike pushing but after the first climb all the rest is E-Bike suitable. Also need to consider if your E-Bike battery will last 48km long and 5000ft total climbing.
